Guidelines for applying to Project 5's
Portfolio Review
Date of Review: Sunday, April 4th
Project 5 is proud to announce our second group Portfolio Review in New York City. Project 5 is a unique collaboration between Amador Gallery, ClampArt, Daniel Cooney Fine Art, Foley Gallery and Sasha Wolf Gallery that has grown out of years of friendship and shared ambitions in the photography market.
Project 5 hopes to foster a supportive environment for artists to receive constructive criticism and build an ongoing dialogue about their work with art world professionals.
After the formal reviews conclude we will have a short one hour meet and greet so that all the artists and reviewers will have an opportunity to meet each other and share contacts, ideas, etc.
To apply for Project 5's Portfolio Review please send:
-A written description of your work
-A biography that outlines your education and professional experience.
-A link to your website, if you have one.
-10 jpegs sent either in a zip file or attached to an email (or series of emails). The jpgs should be 100 dpi and 6 inches at the largest dimension.
Project 5's Portfolio Review will consist of three 20-minute reviews with three of Project 5's gallerists. Great consideration will be given to the matching of gallery owners and artists based on the strengths and experience of each.
Deadline for receipt of materials for this review will be February 26th and the artists will be notified of acceptance by March 19th A non refundable $250 check made out to Daniel Cooney Fine Art will be due no later than March 26th.

Call for Entries from INDECISIVE MOMENT
from Indecisive Moment:
INDECISIVE MOMENT invites you to submit your work to our next show, Windows and Mirrors.
Windows and Mirrors is a group exhibition that will consist of installations incorporating one video and one photograph from each participating artist in the windows of the 25CPW gallery. The exhibition seeks to illuminate the symbiotic relationship that these media have for many artists who choose to work with both.
The exhibition will be January 25th - February 7th, 2010
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Please submit your work by January 6th, 2010
We are looking for artists who work in both photography and video to submit work.One video and one photograph by each artist will be exhibited, but please feel free to submit as many pieces as you would like. Video pieces will be shown without sound, on a DVD player hooked up to a TV monitor. We ask that all artists be prepared to supply their own DVD players and TV monitors, though we will be able to help find extra equipment if necessary. Instead of a an opening party, we will instead host an event during the exhibition in which all artists included will have their work screened, images projected, and will have a chance to introduce themselves and their work, with a reception to follow.

Windows and Mirrors is a continuation of a series of events organized byINDECISIVE MOMENT which was founded by artists Hyla Skopitz and Teresa Christiansen with the intention of bringing video art to the public eye, in perhaps unconventional means, on their own terms. Indecisive Moment began as the title of the first screening Indecisive Moment: Photographers Using Video, in August 2009 at Hendershot Gallery in New York City. Though film screenings are common, the format is an unusual way to present video art. The artists chosen to participate are all photographers working with video. The event was a means to initiate the conversation about why many contemporary photographers see so much potential in video and where to locate this work within the context and history of film, photography, performance, and the conceptual art of the sixties and seventies.
about 25CPW gallery: Located at 25 Central Park West in Manhattan, 25CPW is an artist run alternative space which provides the opportunity for artists, curators, writers, and educators to engage with each other while simultaneously reaching out to neighborhood residents and the general public. Housed in a donated vacant storefront, 25CPW is a unique space for experimentation, exploration and conversation.

Call for Submissions: Emerging Artists Auction

Daniel Cooney has teamed up with iGavel once again to present a new
round of artist auctions. For anyone interested in submitting, you can
find the details below:
The new auctions include a curated selection of works of art by
promising emerging talent. The auction is a showcase before an
audience of collectors, dealers, museum professionals and gallery
owners. To ensure equal and fair representation all works are
presented with reserves set at $200.
iGavel is an international network of fine art and antiques
professionals with Consignment Centers conveniently located in many
major metropolitan areas. Our regional network enables consignors to
minimize handling and shipping expenses while reaching an
international marketplace of buyers.
Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. To submit you must
meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate student works will not be accepted
- All mediums are welcome besides installation works
- Artists cannot have gallery or commercial representation
- Some prior exhibition or publication experience is required
To submit, please fill out this form. Submit one image per work.
Images must be at least 800 pixels on the longest side, jpeg saved for
web, below 200kb in size, and SRGB color space. Each artist will be
required to sign a contract with iGavel. Artists receive a 50%
commission on all sold works. Shipping of accepted works to iGavel or
the iGavel Associate is the responsibility of the artist, and the
return shipment if not sold. After your submission is received, you
will be contacted by email.
The first Emerging Artist Auction is slated to launch in early 2010.

3rd Ward Open Call for Photography
3rd Ward, Williamsburg's member-based design center for creative professionals, just announced an Open Call for photography. This competition is an international search for the best new work from emerging photographers.
Winning photographers will be featured in a group exhibit with one first place award of $500 and a Third Ward Green Bike. Everyone who's selected will also written up in their quarterly publication, get a one-month basic membership with access to their four photo studios and gain citywide exposure through press about the event.
They are accepting Submissions Through July 31st, 11:59 pm.

Help!
We are having a bit of trouble getting "Nymphoto Op-Ed" off the ground. However we are not ready to give up, because we think it is important to add another angle to Nymphoto and more importantly we would like to keep the discussion going.
The discussion about the female artistic experience. We want to hear your rants, your praises, your suggestions. Emily Shur wrote about what it is like to be a professional photographer today. Candace Gottschalk spoke about combining art & motherhood, Jane Tam followed suit and spoke about family, priorities and finding your way after college.
Ellen Rennard addressed the continuing gender gap in the art world.
